1. Public Awareness and OutreachIdeas and thoughts related to public awareness and outreach are discussed in this forum. 2. EducationTopics related to education of space activities and the wide public are discussed in this forum. How can education systems make use of space information/research and can the space programmes better utilise education resources? 3. International CooperationDiscussion items about international cooperation please post in this forum. 4. Development of Society & Meeting Basic NeedsHow does and will space effect the development of the world societies? How will it contribute to meet basic human needs? Post ideas here. 5. CommercialisationSpace Technology changed gradually from entirely publicly funded ventures. In the beginning of rocketry to demonstrate military power later during the cold war to demonstrate political power. Today we are on the verge to a commercially dominated space area taking over publicly funded space activities. What can we expect from the next 30 years? What about space communication and what will come afterwards? What about space tourism? 6. Arts and HumanitiesSpace has become a culture with space artists, science fiction, music and much more. Space is a fascination and stimulates the human mind and phantasy. It is a part of space as much as the human is not an entirely rational being. 7. Philosophy/Religion/Ethics/MoralityIs space more than engineering and science? Is it more than business as usual? Doesn't the single fact, that a species reaches the capabilities to leave its place of biologic evolution the first time after billions of years characterise a key event and the beginning of a new area, like a bird breaking out of its own egg shell? Doesn't just the view of the Earth from space chance our view of the world and the cosmos? These are the topics discussed in this section. 8. Transmission of KnowledgeHigh-technology / Spin-Offs and Spin-Ins / Technology transfer / Space as the motor for technological development and prosperity / Space the arrow head of technology ... What is true in all these arguments? Is space what people though to be 30 years ago? How do we see the role of space knowledge in the next 30 years? 9. Science and TechnologyTechnology and Science is, what makes our space visions become reality. In order to have realistic and credible visions, they need to be founded on solid engineering and scientific ground. Is space power generation realistic or not? Is space tourism just a complete hype? How do we get to Mars? Does He-3 mining on the Moon make sense? And how will science benefit from space and how will it contribute to the future space development? These are the kind of topics for this forum. 10. Access to SpaceAccess to space is the key single factor to determine to order of magnitude of all space activities. It is a vicious circle of launch cost and demand, launch reliability and development cost, which has to be broken - but how? Space Tourism? Reusable launch vehicles? Break-through propulsion? 11. EnvironmentSpace has become an indispensable tool for Earth science and environmental monitoring. What will the future bring? Publicly available internet based Geographic Information Systems? Global environment violation monitoring? 12. International Security and Peace KeepingThe surveillance of peace treaties, the early recognition of hostile troop movements, can be key factors for successful peace keeping and successful peace keeping diplomacy. 13. MilitaryStarting with artillery devices, from the first rockets V2 and first orbital launchers, to surveillance and Global Positioning Systems and finally Star Wars of the obsolete Strategic Defence Initiative - Military space applications have been one of the major drivers for space technology in many if not most fields of space activities. Can it be neglected when discussing about the future of space? 14. MiscellaneousWhatever doesn't fit into any of the previous categories, post it here. |
